"Youth Film & Video Festival 2002" Winners Announced

First-Place Winners have been announced in the 7th annual CITF Youth Film & Video Festival. Trophies and cash prizes will be awarded in 15 categories at the one-day festival of screenings, reception, & award's program on Tuesday, April 23rd, 2002  from 3-7 pm, at The Chicago Cultural Center, 77 E. Randolph, 2nd Fl.. Admission is free and open to the public.

            The 15 first-place winners, selected from among 150 entries by a panel of media

professionals, include outstanding animation, documentaries, narratives, music videos, public

service announcements, news programs, short works, and experimental media. (See

            Author/ radio personality Stan West, a longtime judge of the film festival, describes this year's 

entrants  as a "bumper crop of promising young videographers. They represent the best and the

brightest in our community."

                       

Popularly known as, “The Teengers' Film Festival,”  the event honoring Chicagoland filmmakers under the age of 20 is the creation of the Chicago Instructional Technology Foundation, a non-profit foundation dedicated to serving educational institutions using telecommunications. The festival is co-sponsored by The Chicago Film Office. Festival entries represent the important organizations working with youth in media.

A salute to Chicago’s young filmmakers, with the

Award of trophies and cash awards in 15 categories determined by a panel of

media professionals, including members of the Chicago Film Critics Association.

Following a screening of short clips of all 15 winners, this second screening

presents ten of the shorter winners.

Admission is Free and Open to the Public.
